Ad Hoc Studios' superhero workplace comedy, titled 'Dispatch', has emerged as a surprising and significant success in the gaming world. Despite its lineage tracing back to the Telltale era and being developed by veterans of that studio, the game rapidly achieved sales of over one million units within a mere ten days of its release. This unexpected popularity has markedly improved the prospects for a second season, a possibility that was considered quite remote only a few weeks prior to its launch.

Pierre Shorette, co-founder of Ad Hoc Studios, shared his thoughts on this turn of events during a podcast interview, expressing that the team now finds themselves in the fortunate position of needing to seriously consider a follow-up season. He highlighted that this was a situation entirely unforeseen just three weeks before the game's debut, underscoring the rapid and impactful nature of its success.

The game's remarkable performance is particularly noteworthy given the lingering absence left by Telltale's abrupt and chaotic closure. Many in the industry had questioned whether there would ever be a true successor to Telltale's unique brand of narrative-driven episodic gaming. 'Dispatch' appears to be resonating with players, demonstrating a strong appetite for this genre.

Evidence of this widespread engagement is clearly visible in the game's player statistics. According to data from SteamDB, 'Dispatch' initially launched with a respectable 12,707 concurrent players. This number saw a substantial increase, jumping to 66,000 on October 29th with the release of episodes three and four, and then more than doubling to over 131,000 concurrent players when episodes five and six became available on November 5th.

With the final episodes of the first season slated for release on November 12th, it is anticipated that these player numbers will climb even higher. Such compelling figures present a very persuasive argument for the continuation of the series, indicating that 'Dispatch' might indeed be carving out a new legacy in episodic storytelling within the gaming landscape.
