Crunchyroll Secures Streaming Rights for "Haikyu!!" English Dub

The widely acclaimed sports anime, "Haikyu!!," has achieved a significant milestone as its English dubbed version is now officially available for streaming on Crunchyroll. This announcement marks a turning point for fans who have previously faced challenges accessing the dubbed content due to intricate licensing agreements. While the English dub for the initial two seasons is already accessible, subsequent seasons will continue to be offered in their original Japanese format with English subtitles, as the platform works to expand its dubbed offerings.

This strategic acquisition by Crunchyroll comes in the wake of recent user dissatisfaction, where several anime titles, such as "Claymore," were unexpectedly removed from the platform without prior notification. These previous removals were primarily attributed to broader licensing issues impacting entire catalogs, rather than specific problems with English-dubbed versions. The integration of "Haikyu!!"'s English dub is a positive step towards enhancing content accessibility and addressing viewer preferences, reinforcing Crunchyroll's commitment to its audience.

"Haikyu!!," based on Haruichi Furudate's celebrated manga series, which ran from 2012 to 2020, first premiered in 2014. The narrative centers on Shoyo Hinata, a determined high school student who, despite his short stature, harbors a strong ambition to excel as a top-tier volleyball player. Alongside his former rival and now teammate, Tobio Kageyama, and the Karasuno High volleyball team, Hinata relentlessly pursues the goal of leading his team to national championship glory. The anime series is currently progressing with the production of its second feature film, which is set to conclude the animated adaptation. The first film, "Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle," released in 2024, continued the storyline from the anime's fifth season. The eagerly anticipated grand finale, "Haikyu!! vs. The Little Giant," will serve as the ultimate conclusion to the series, with its release window yet to be announced. Director Susumu Mitsunaka, who directed "The Dumpster Battle," will return to helm "Haikyu!! vs. The Little Giant," which will adapt the Nationals match between Karasuno and Kamomedai High. Additionally, a new TV special, "Haikyu!! Bakemonotachi no Iku Tokoro," will bridge the two films by covering the Nationals match between Fukurodani and Mujinazaka High.
