Worlds Collide: Final Fantasy XIV and Monster Hunter Wilds Announce Epic Crossover Event
Unleash the Beast Within: A Fusion of Fantasy and Ferocity
A Legacy of Crossovers: The Path to New Adventures
It has been a significant period since the last major collaborative effort between the Final Fantasy and Monster Hunter universes, during which players of Final Fantasy XIV had the opportunity to acquire the formidable Rathalos mount. Now, the time has come for a fresh and expansive challenge that builds upon this shared history.
Dual Engagements: Experiencing the Crossover in Both Realms
During the recent Opening Night Live presentation, Square Enix and Capcom proudly revealed an upcoming joint venture between Final Fantasy XIV and the eagerly anticipated Monster Hunter Wilds. This innovative partnership will see both titles integrate unique interpretations of creatures and elements from their counterpart's world, offering distinct experiences for players across both games.
Monster Hunter Wilds: A Fresh Take on Familiar Foes
The untamed landscapes of Monster Hunter Wilds are set to welcome visitors and receive rewards themed around Final Fantasy starting in late September. This will introduce new challenges and collectible items that draw directly from the rich lore of the Final Fantasy series. Notably, the formidable Omega, a legendary raid boss from Final Fantasy XIV, will make its debut in Monster Hunter Wilds as Omega Planetes in Title Update 3. For those familiar with FF14's 'Endwalker' storyline, Omega's appearance in these Forbidden Lands will align seamlessly with the narrative. Additionally, the world of Wilds will gain other classic Final Fantasy elements, such as the appearance of roaming Cactuars and the option to adorn your Seikret mounts with Chocobo-inspired appearances. Further details regarding these additions are expected soon from Capcom.
Final Fantasy XIV: Embracing the Hunter's Spirit
Conversely, the realm of Eorzea in Final Fantasy XIV will embrace the spirit of Monster Hunter with an in-game event commencing in early October. This event will allow adventurers to acquire a Seikret mount, don Monster Hunter-themed glamours, and potentially face off against a new trial involving the creature Arkveld. The possibility of another Palico minion also brings an exciting prospect for collectors and fans of the Monster Hunter series, further enriching the crossover experience.
Reflecting on Past Hunts and Future Rewards
The previous collaboration between these two gaming giants saw Final Fantasy XIV introduce two iterations of 'The Great Hunt' encounter featuring Rathalos. An accessible version was available for cosmetic items and housing decorations, while 'The Great Hunt (Extreme)' presented a much tougher challenge. Success in the Extreme version offered a chance for a rare Rathalos mount drop, though many players, like myself, needed numerous attempts to gather enough materials to earn their mount, highlighting the dedicated grind that often accompanies such prestigious rewards.
