Details on the 'Breath of the Wild' Vinyl Soundtrack Release
In a significant announcement for gaming and music enthusiasts, Nintendo confirmed the upcoming release of the 'Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' soundtrack on vinyl. Set to launch on June 19, 2026, the collection will feature two distinct editions. The double-LP set, priced at $40, contains 34 hand-picked tracks, encompassing memorable pieces such as \"Overworld (Day)\" and \"Hyrule Castle.\" For the dedicated collector, a deluxe eight-LP box set, costing $180, offers 130 tracks, each masterfully adapted for vinyl. This deluxe edition organizes its discs by thematic progression, mirroring the game's narrative journey through exploring Hyrule, liberating Divine Beasts, and uncovering Shrine mysteries.
Both versions are available in standard black vinyl, with limited-edition colored variants also offered: the double LP in blue-and-white marble and the eight-LP set with blue and gold splatter effects. The deluxe collection is housed in a sturdy dual slipcase. Collaborating with Laced Records, Nintendo has made pre-orders available through the My Nintendo Store and Laced Records' website. Limited-edition colored vinyl will also be sold at Nintendo's New York and San Francisco stores, while standard black vinyl will be distributed to select retailers. This marks one of the first major Nintendo game soundtracks to receive a vinyl release outside of Japan, featuring the compositions of Manaka Kataoka, Yasuaki Iwata, Hajime Wakai, and Soshi Abe.
This initiative by Nintendo to release the 'Breath of the Wild' soundtrack on vinyl is a testament to the enduring appeal of video game music and the growing demand for physical media in a digital age. It not only offers fans a tangible piece of their cherished game but also elevates video game scores to an art form worthy of specialized preservation. This move could inspire further vinyl releases of iconic game soundtracks, bridging the gap between gaming culture and audiophile traditions.
