Catalan Language Gains Ground in Video Games

Recent developments in the Catalan video game industry reveal a significant rise in games available in the Catalan language. According to the latest White Book of the Catalan Video Game Industry, three-quarters of locally developed titles now include Catalan versions. The news was unveiled during the launch of the SAGA gaming fair's fourth edition, an event set to take place later this year.

The upcoming SAGA gaming fair promises to be a highlight for gaming enthusiasts. One of the key attractions includes competitive matches featuring top League of Legends teams communicating exclusively in Catalan, showcasing the language’s integration into high-level gaming scenarios. Additionally, a LAN Party will allow 250 participants to engage in continuous gaming over a span of 56 hours.

Organizers have ambitious plans to elevate the event by hosting official international tournaments, drawing gamers from across Europe. With more than 100 gaming stations available, attendees of all skill levels are invited to partake in interactive experiences. Furthermore, the exhibition area will feature booths from various stakeholders, including game developers, educational institutions, player associations, and esports clubs, creating a vibrant networking environment.
