OLED Monitor Market Sees Significant Growth, Led by Gaming Segment

11/18/2025

The market for OLED PC monitors is currently experiencing remarkable growth, with a significant surge in sales recorded for the third quarter of 2025. This expansion is largely fueled by the gaming community, as these high-performance displays offer superior visual experiences for avid players. While prices have become more competitive, there's still a noticeable difference in perceived value when compared to larger OLED televisions, prompting consumers to carefully consider their investment.

According to recent analysis from Trendforce, a notable increase of 65% in OLED PC monitor sales was observed when comparing the third quarter of 2025 to the same period in the previous year. Furthermore, quarter-over-quarter sales within 2025 saw a 12% rise, reaching a total of 644,000 units. Projections indicate that the total number of OLED monitors sold throughout 2025 will reach 2.62 million units, representing an impressive growth exceeding 80% compared to 2024 figures. In contrast, other industry reports, such as those from IDC, anticipate over 130 million overall PC monitor sales and approximately 25 million gaming monitor sales for 2025 across all display technologies.

The burgeoning OLED monitor segment is predominantly focused on the gaming market, with a smaller proportion of models designed for specialized applications like content creation or high-end consumer use. This indicates that OLED technology is capturing approximately 10% of the PC gaming monitor market in 2025. In a significant market shift, Asus has ascended to the top position among OLED monitor brands, securing a 21.9% market share, thereby overtaking Samsung, which now holds 18%. MSI ranks third with 14.4%, followed by LG at 12.9%, with other manufacturers collectively accounting for the remaining share.

It's important to note that the panels used in nearly all OLED gaming monitors are sourced from either Samsung or LG, highlighting a duopoly in the supply chain for these critical components. Despite these companies being vast conglomerates with diverse divisions, this concentration of panel manufacturing raises concerns about potential impacts on market competition and pricing transparency. While the cost of OLED monitors has decreased, with a 27-inch 1440p model now available for around $449.99—roughly half its price from a couple of years prior—their value proposition remains a point of comparison against larger, more affordably priced OLED televisions, such as a 48-inch LG OLED TV for $900 or a 55-inch Sony model for $1,000.

The upcoming Black Friday sales event is expected to reveal more attractive deals on OLED monitors, which could further influence consumer purchasing decisions. The appeal of larger formats, particularly ultrawide displays like a 49-inch model, is strong for both immersive gaming and enhanced multitasking, despite potential trade-offs in pixel density. Current prices for these larger screens hover around $900, with an anticipated drop to approximately $700 potentially making them an irresistible offer for many.
