Mastering Kerotan Hunting in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
Embark on a comprehensive expedition to locate every elusive Kerotan frog scattered throughout the immersive world of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. This detailed guide serves as your indispensable companion, meticulously charting the precise whereabouts of all 64 amphibians, crucial for dedicated players aiming for complete mastery. Mastering this collection quest will unlock exclusive in-game rewards, including the highly sought-after Stealth Camo and a prestigious achievement.
For seasoned veterans of the Metal Gear Solid series, a few of these agile creatures might be etched in memory, but a significant number of their hiding spots have likely faded over time. This updated guide is invaluable for both returning players and newcomers alike, providing clear directions and visual aids to simplify the search. It is imperative to maintain frequent saves, especially when approaching 'points of no return,' as missing a Kerotan in these irreversible segments could necessitate a complete restart of the mission. Fortunately, the game's mechanics allow players to retrieve any missed Kerotans by loading a previous save, ensuring progress isn't entirely lost.
The pursuit begins in Dremuchij South, where the first Kerotan can be found perched on a raised rock near a drop-off point. Continuing through the Dremuchij Swampland, another awaits off in the woods to the right after crossing the swamp and ascending the hill. Dremuchij North harbors a Kerotan atop a tree stump in the northeastern sector, conveniently located near the exit path. Upon reaching Dolinovodno, players should check the left (west) post at the southern end of the bridge. The journey then leads to Rassvet, where a Kerotan is cunningly concealed beneath the stairs in the open ruined building, visible through a gap in the brick wall.
A critical 'point of no return' occurs upon encountering Sokolov in Rassvet, after which access to previous areas is restricted. However, once equipped with a firearm, the hunt can resume in earlier zones. In Dremuchij East, a Kerotan is nestled under a fallen tree on the west side of the map, immediately after the initial landing. Returning to Rassvet, another frog is found under the stairs, close to the brick wall opening where the initial one was located. Dolinovodno reveals a Kerotan on a ledge above, visible from the north side of the bridge by turning right. Dremuchij North presents a challenge, with a frog in a clear area to the left (west) of a small hill, accessible after climbing the central tree and walking out on its branch. In Dremuchij Swamp, a Kerotan is hidden behind the northernmost tree in the beachy area teeming with crocodiles. Dremuchij South conceals one on a rocky ledge in the northwest, past a log in the snake-filled zone where the game began. Chyornyj Prud features an underwater Kerotan on the northern side of the lake, under a branch near the area exit. Moving to Bolshaya Past South, a frog is found in a clump of trees along the eastern fence, after passing two electric fences and an opening guarded by two soldiers. Finally, Bolshaya Past Base holds a Kerotan under a chair by a desk in the central concrete building.
The transition from Bolshaya Past Base to Bolshaya Past Crevice marks another 'point of no return,' leading to a boss encounter and subsequent new territories. During the battle with Ocelot in Bolshaya Past Crevice, a Kerotan is discernible on a grassy area across a gap, by a tree on the southeast end of the rocky platform. Chornaya Peschera Beach Cave has one on a ledge overlooking a hole in an eastern chamber, near the NVG pickup, reachable by crawling through rat-filled and toad-filled tunnels. Within Chornaya Peschera Cave, the frog is on a ledge in the ceiling above the central rock platform, accessible from The Pain's boss arena entrance. Chornaya Peschera Cave Entrance hides a Kerotan on a log above the entrance of a claymore-filled alcove. Ponizovje South contains one among rocks to the immediate left upon entering the area. Ponizovje West's frog is underwater behind a barred grill, north of the boats at the concrete pier. Ponizovje Warehouse Exterior presents a Kerotan above the water gate to the left after a cutscene. Inside Ponizovje Warehouse, look up at the stone rafters on the north side for another frog. Graniny Gorki South has one on a tree branch to the left (west) of the northern exit path. At Graniny Gorki Lab Exterior, a frog is on a raised rocky ledge between two trees, west of the gate past the electric fence. Graniny Gorki Lab Exterior: Inside Walls reveals a Kerotan in the window of a brick building with a boarded-up door on the east side of the courtyard. In Graniny Gorki Lab F1, a frog rests on top of a locker in the eastern corridor. Graniny Gorki Lab B1 East houses one on a table in a cell at the end of the corridor. Graniny Gorki Lab B1 West has a Kerotan on a wall shelf on the west side of the room with a large TV. Svyatogornyj South's frog is directly behind and above the entry point, on a concrete structure ledge. Svyatogornyj West has one on a rocky ledge by a log on the left path, near a hidden death hole. Svyatogornyj East offers a Kerotan on a shelf in the west room of the central house. Sokrovenno South has one on rocks behind a concrete building in the northwest. Sokrovenno North's frog is near a hollow log and a single tree to the left upon entry. Sokrovenno West’s Kerotan is beneath a small rock arch at the southernmost point of the central stream. Krasnogorje Tunnel hides one behind a pillar to the right (west) shortly down the tunnel. Krasnogorje Mountain Base’s frog is on the top-left side of the rocky mountain wall at the end of the area. Krasnogorje Mountainside features one on the roof edge of a yellow-doored supply building, near anti-air cannons. Krasnogorje Mountaintop has a Kerotan in the southeast corner on a snowy ravine side. Lastly, Krasnogorje Mountaintop: Behind Ruins hides one on the middle section of a radio tower, just above the number 7, and Krasnogorje Mountaintop Ruins contains one on a wooden shelf in the southern room with a metal bed.
Entering the Groznyj Grad Underground Tunnel and descending a ladder signifies another irreversible point, leading to a boss battle with a hidden Kerotan that can be shot preemptively. In Groznyj Grad Underground Tunnel, a frog is on a pipe directly north in the large pillar-filled room. Groznyj Grad Southwest has one visible through the partially open door of the middle left tank hangar. Groznyj Grad Northeast conceals a Kerotan behind bars, accessible via a tunnel from a small concrete building. Groznyj Grad Northwest's frog is atop the stairs of an inaccessible fenced-off area. Groznyj Grad Southeast holds one on the southeast roof corner of a building. Groznyj Grad Torture Room’s frog is under a desk to the right after entering a specific door. Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: East Wing has a Kerotan on a shelf in a room entered from the north staircase. Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: West Wing Corridor features one outside on a speaker pole, visible through a window to the immediate left upon entering. A partial 'point of no return' happens when entering Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: West Wing as Raikov; it’s advised to collect all previous Kerotans. For the Tikhogornyj Kerotan, if without a gun, a fork from prison can be used, or one can retrieve a weapon from Eva. Returning to Groznyj Grad to arm explosives (initiating the fight with Volgin) also marks an irreversible point, making it essential to collect the following: Tikhogornyj contains a Kerotan under a log at the river's south end; Tikhogornyj: Behind Waterfall has one on a pipe above in the final room with the ladder; Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: Main Wing hides one behind a railing on the left walkway near panels; and Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: Main Wing B1 features a Kerotan on the arena's edge to the left when the Volgin fight begins.
The subsequent high-speed motorbike chase sequence presents a unique challenge, requiring swift and accurate shooting. Players are strongly encouraged to save manually in each area of the chase to allow for retries. Utilize a sniper rifle for precision or an RPG for a wider impact on these moving targets. The first Kerotan in this sequence is in Groznyj Grad, on a tower searchlight during the initial stop. Groznyj Grad Runway South's frog is on the seat of the left forklift during the first combat stop. Groznyj Grad Runway has a Kerotan on top of sign number 7, and another on sign number 18. Groznyj Grad Rail Bridge features a frog on an arch under the bridge, visible by standing up. Another is found after the bridge explosion, on a concrete structure near a radio tower in the northwest section of the arena. Groznyj Grad Rail Bridge North has a Kerotan between two barrier sections on the left during the first ambush. Lazorevo South conceals one in front of a rock on the right side of the track. Lazorevo North’s frog is conspicuously on top of a rock to the left of the track when descending a slope.
With the intense chase sequence concluded, only three final Kerotans remain. Zaozyorje West has one in a ravine below a log bridge, visible to the left (east) from the middle of the bridge. Zaozyorje East's frog is cleverly hidden behind a large tree at the initial path split. The very last Kerotan awaits in Rokovoj Bereg, perched atop a tree in the southeast-central area, south of the tree with the Gako. Successfully acquiring all 64 Kerotans culminates in the 'Kerotan' title, the invaluable Stealth Camo, and the well-deserved 'It Ain't Easy Being Green' achievement, solidifying your dedication to collecting these amphibious targets.
