Limited Run Games Set to Release Enhanced NES Jaws on Switch
Limited Run Games has announced that an enhanced version of the classic 1987 NES game, Jaws, will soon be available on Nintendo Switch. Titled Jaws: Retro Edition, this release will arrive digitally on the eShop on Friday, February 13th, 2026, a date fitting for the iconic shark-themed title. This modern re-imagining promises to thrill both long-time fans and new players with its blend of nostalgia and contemporary gaming features.
The upcoming Jaws: Retro Edition will feature the original 8-bit adventure, now equipped with modern conveniences such as a save-anywhere option, a rewind function, achievements, a music player, and a gallery. Additionally, the package includes a "Jaws Enhanced Version" that significantly expands the gameplay experience. This enhanced edition will incorporate elements from all four Jaws movies, offering new quests, objectives, and improved abilities and weapons for players to combat the more formidable adversaries lurking in the deep. Pre-orders for the physical versions commenced on December 19th and conclude on January 18th, 2026, through the official Limited Run Games website, coinciding with the anticipation leading up to the 50th anniversary of the classic Steven Spielberg film.
This initiative not only celebrates the enduring legacy of the Jaws franchise but also provides a renewed opportunity for players to engage with a piece of gaming history. By integrating modern gaming elements with retro charm, Limited Run Games aims to deliver a comprehensive experience that honors the past while embracing the present. The re-release encourages a positive engagement with gaming heritage, demonstrating how classic titles can be revitalized for new generations to appreciate and enjoy.
