Intel Unveils Core Ultra Series 3 Mobile Processors with Enhanced Gaming Performance

Intel has officially introduced its Panther Lake-based Core Ultra Series 3 mobile processor lineup, highlighting notable performance enhancements. During a presentation, Intel's VP of PC products, Dan Rogers, emphasized the gaming capabilities of the 18A-based silicon, moving the focus away from AI features.

A major breakthrough announced is that the highest-end chips are projected to deliver up to 77% faster integrated graphics performance than the previous Lunar Lake-based Intel Core Ultra 9 288V. This is a substantial leap, particularly given the already strong gaming performance of Lunar Lake. Furthermore, Intel has committed to significant improvements in its GPU driver stack, which could make these new mobile processors highly competitive for compact gaming devices.

The enhanced performance is attributed to architectural refinements, including redesigned P and E-cores, alongside a robust integrated GPU in the high-end Core Ultra X7 and X9 chips, which now supports ray tracing. This integrated GPU, named Intel Arc B390, utilizes Intel's new Xe3 cores, while other models feature the Intel Arc B370 iGPU and various Intel Graphics configurations. Intel's modular chip design allows for flexibility across different power requirements, offering a wide range of mobile processors from the powerful Core Ultra X9 388H to the more power-efficient Core Ultra 5 series, catering to diverse computing needs.
