Hollow Knight: Silksong Set for Release This Year with Exciting New Gameplay

Long-awaited by fans of insect-themed adventures, Hollow Knight: Silksong is set to premiere later this year. Announced during Microsoft's Xbox Games Showcase, the game will be available at launch for the new ROG Xbox Ally handheld gaming devices. In addition to these exclusive platforms, Silksong will also grace consoles like Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Originally envisioned as a downloadable expansion for the critically acclaimed Hollow Knight released in 2017, developers Team Cherry reimagined Silksong as an independent sequel. The protagonist, Hornet, previously known as one of Hollow Knight's agile adversaries, now takes center stage. According to Team Cherry’s 2019 announcement, players will explore a mysterious new realm characterized by silk and song, encountering over 150 unique enemy types.

Hornet's gameplay has been redesigned to emphasize agility and acrobatics. Her movements are more fluid and dance-like compared to her predecessor. This transformation not only adds depth to her character but also introduces fresh mechanics that promise to captivate both newcomers and returning fans alike.

The announcement coincides with the unveiling of the ROG Xbox Ally series, developed through a partnership between Asus and Microsoft.
