Unleash the Web-Slinger: A Symbiotic Union of Collectibles and Card Play!
The Expanding Multiverse of Magic: The Gathering Collaborations
Following successful partnerships with major franchises like Final Fantasy and Lord of the Rings, the renowned card game Magic: The Gathering is extending its reach into the beloved Marvel universe. This new venture allows enthusiasts to integrate characters such as Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and Gwen Stacy into their strategic card battles. A standout feature of this collaboration is the release of action figures that draw inspiration directly from the artwork of these new cards.
Exclusive First Look: Marvel Legends Figures with Collectible Cards
Hasbro has provided a sneak peek at three distinctive collectibles, slated for release this autumn, each priced at $39.99. Every Marvel Legends Magic: The Gathering figure will come bundled with a special foil edition of its corresponding card, enhancing its collectible value.
Battle-Damaged Spider-Man: Dynamic Figure, Strategic Card
The Battle-Damaged Spider-Man figure boasts an interchangeable unmasked head and a variety of hand poses, enabling dynamic displays such as wall-crawling, web-shooting, shield-wielding, or hanging from a web-line. This figure is inspired by the new Spectacular Spider-Man legendary creature card, which possesses abilities like gaining flight or being sacrificed to safeguard other creatures, reflecting Spider-Man's heroic versatility.
Mary Jane Watson as Iron Spider: Enhanced Abilities in Figure and Card
Mary Jane Watson, in her Iron Spider suit designed by Tony Stark, is presented as a highly articulated figure featuring movable legs, masked and unmasked facial options, and web-shooting hands. The accompanying Iron Spider, Stark Upgrade card, is a legendary artifact creature with Vigilance. This card allows players to add +1/+1 counters to all creatures and vehicles, and by expending two counters and two colorless mana, players can draw an additional card, mirroring the suit's technological enhancements.
Man-Wolf: Ferocious Power and Legendary Legacy
Colonel John Jameson, known as Man-Wolf, is depicted with a bow and arrows and the mythical sword Stargod. His figure is paired with a unique variant of the werewolf Ravager of the Fells card, originally from Magic's 2012 Dark Ascension set, showcasing his fierce and untamed nature.
Agent Anti-Venom: A Healing Symbiote Joins the Fray
Earlier, Hasbro unveiled the Agent Anti-Venom figure, which comes with the Anti-Venom, Horrifying Healer card. Designed for mono-White decks, this legendary symbiote card enables players to return a creature from the battlefield upon casting and converts incoming damage into beneficial +1/+1 counters, emphasizing its protective and restorative powers.
Accessibility for New Players and Pre-order Details
Wizards of the Coast is committed to making Magic: The Gathering more accessible to new Marvel fans. When the Marvel's Spider-Man set launches on September 26, it will include a series of five Welcome Decks specifically designed for beginners. These decks, unlike the Foundations set, will feature some cards not legal in Standard tournaments, making them ideal for casual play. Additionally, Magic Academy events will be hosted in stores to introduce new players to the game's rules. Pre-orders for these exciting new action figures will commence on Hasbro Pulse on August 1st at 1 p.m. EDT, with the figures becoming available later in the fall.
