GameCube Controller and Titles Exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2

06/21/2025

Nintendo has sent out pre-order invites for the Switch 2, marking the first opportunity to secure one of the new wireless GameCube controllers. However, the actual Switch Online GameCube library will not launch until June 5, coinciding with the release of the Switch 2. While excitement is building around this feature, there are several key points to understand about its availability and offerings.

The GameCube Classics library is exclusively accessible to Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers who own a Nintendo Switch 2. This means that even if you're subscribed to the service but don't have a Switch 2, you won’t be able to access these games. The same exclusivity applies to the wireless GameCube controller, which is designed specifically for the Switch 2. Despite this limitation, the service aims to enhance the value proposition for users upgrading to the next-generation platform.

On day one, three iconic GameCube titles will be available: The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Soulcalibur 2, and F-Zero GX. Although fans had hoped for a remake of Wind Waker tailored for the Switch 2, these initial releases mark a promising start. Nintendo plans to expand this library regularly, much like it has done for other retro gaming collections such as NES, SNES, N64, and SEGA libraries.

In addition to the confirmed titles, Nintendo has hinted at more games joining the lineup in the future, including Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Strikers, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Luigi’s Mansion, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, Pokemon Colosseum, and Chibi-Robo. These potential additions suggest an exciting roadmap ahead for retro gaming enthusiasts.

As the Switch 2 prepares to hit shelves, gamers eagerly anticipate the expanded library and enhanced features that accompany this new console. With exclusive hardware and software support, Nintendo continues to refine its strategy for engaging players through both nostalgia and innovation.
