Apple Launches Integrated Gaming Hub: Apple Games App Now Available

Game searches within the App Store are also more precise, as results will now exclusively display games rather than general applications.

The application also integrates new social functionalities via a 'Friends' tab, allowing players to create customized challenges in Game Center-supported titles. For instance, users can initiate a high-score competition in games like Fruit Ninja, defining participating friends, challenge duration, and the number of attempts allowed per player. The Mac version offers an additional advantage, automatically cataloging all games installed on the computer, regardless of their origin—be it the App Store, Steam, GOG, or other platforms. These games can all be launched directly from Apple Games, establishing it as a universal launcher. While many of these additions seem intuitive and perhaps overdue for iOS, Apple Games underscores Apple's continuous and deliberate expansion into the gaming sector. The deep integration with Apple Arcade signals the continued commitment to the subscription service, even as Apple actively seeks collaborations with major publishers such as Capcom and Ubisoft to bring their titles to Mac.
